New World ShortHand

Posted 12/27/2021

Some of this stuff might be server specific (I found this out after merging to Neno Kuni) but here are a few phrases/acronyms that get used in game that could be confusing when first heard. I will add to them as I think of them. This list will be mostly for items that I have found seem to be unique to New World, I may make another list for MMORPG shorthand, but there are so many out there already.

  • C-Train
    • Stands for Corruption Train, and is when a group goes around closing Corruption Portals
    • This is also called running portals.
    • eg: C-Train staring in Reekwater in 5 minutes
  • Gen/Genesis
    • Refers to the Garden of Genesis, an expedition (dungeon)
    • Note that since the Orb (think key) to enter the Genesis Expedition is costly to make a lot of players will charge for group slots (on Neno Kuni for instance it's approx 1,500 to 2,500 gold per slot.
  • AH, TP, MB, Baz
    • All refer to the same thing. In New World it's the "Trading Post" where players can buy and sell items to/from other players.
    • AH = Auction House, TP = Trading Post, MB = Market Board, Baz = Bazaar
  • OPR
    • Outpost Rush this is the 20v20 PVP arena area.
  • Malv
    • Generally refers to Tower of Malevolence, an elite area in Eden Grove that can be farmed for Elite Chests to increase Expertise
    • Can also refer to the Boss Mob in Tower of Malevolence
  • Sirens
    • Refers to an Elite area in Reekwater that can be farmed for Elite Chests to increase Expertise
  • WM (WaterMark), now Expertise
    • Refers to your gear score (post lvl 60)
    • Once you hit level 60 your base gear score for each gear slot will be 500 out of a possible 600
    • Every time you defeat an elite mob or loot an elite chest you have a chance to loot a piece of gear that has a higher score than your current Expertise level. If this happens, your expertise for that slot/weapon will become the same as the gear score of the item you looted. You have a chance for higher increases at lower gear score and as you get nearer to 600 the incremental bumps become smaller and smaller.
      • eg if your current expertise score for your hand slot is 500, and you loot a glove (loot not purchase) with a gear score of 505, your expertise score for your hand slot will now be 505.
